An exciting opportunity has arisen for a “Quarry Manager” role in Denmark, for our client who is a world leader in mineral-based specialties for industry specializing in the extraction and production of high-quality materials. The company operates with a commitment to sustainable practices, safety, and innovation, ensuring a positive impact on both the environment and local communities.


JOB SUMMARY


The Quarry Manager is responsible for coordinating activities to ensure safe, sustainable, efficient, and profitable operations at the mine site. This includes overseeing the extraction/production process, maintaining equipment, managing contractors, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, experienced leader with a strong background in open-pit mining and safety management.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety)


  • Lead safety and health initiatives across the site, ensuring adherence to company protocols and local regulations.

  • Oversee contractor safety, ensuring compliance with safety standards for slope stability, ground control, equipment, and personnel.

  • Ensure all mine operating and environmental permits are renewed and applied as required.

  • Lead the development and implementation of risk assessments and safe working methods.

  • Continuously foster a strong safety culture within the organization.


Mining Operations


  • Manage the supply chain to plants, ensuring volume and quality targets are consistently met.

  • Oversee ore control, including planning, identification, and stockpiling of materials to meet production and quality control standards.

  • Coordinate capital planning processes to ensure optimal capital use and meet production requirements.

  • Apply mining operations and engineering principles to resolve operational challenges and improve efficiency.

  • Manage contractor payments and oversee invoice reconciliation.

  • Ensure adherence to the budget, cost, CAPEX, and monthly reporting standards.

  • Oversee the long-term strategic development of the mine, monitoring mineral reserves and resources.

  • Lead the restoration works for old mine sites in compliance with legal requirements.

  • Perform topographical surveys and regular sampling to track ore quality and stockpile reconciliation.


Regulatory & Community Relations


  • Ensure that the site adheres to sustainable development practices and meets regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Maintain strong community relations, engaging with local stakeholders and neighbors.

  • Manage relationships with local authorities and other regulatory bodies.


Internal & External Interactions


  • Collaborate with internal teams including Production, Maintenance, Lab, and other departments.

  • Regularly engage with external authorities, contractors, suppliers, and local stakeholders.

  • Manage interactions with the production plants close to the mine site.


REQUIREMENTS


  • Mining Engineer or Geologist.

  • At least 5 years of experience in a mining environment, with a focus on operations and management.

  • Permitted to manage an open-pit mine as per Danish law (Responsible Mine and Plant Manager examination).

  • Fluent in both Danish and English.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization and with external partners.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Proven leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams.

  • Knowledge of geology software (Leapfrog) and mining software (Surpac, Datamine) is an advantage.

  • Valid driving license.


DESIRABLE


  • Knowledge of processing techniques.

  • Understanding of geology and mine planning.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and manage organizational change.

  • Drone pilot license.
